Police Chief William McManus on Thursday said the death of 42-year-old Shawn McGibbons is tragic for his family and for the department.
Live Oak police say McGibbons died Wednesday night after losing control of his motorcycle and wrecking. Sgt. Anita Seamans says McGibbons was not wearing a helmet.
McGibbons had been a San Antonio police officer for 18 years.
