Strong winds snapped the tree and caused it to fall on the roof of the home on Fitch near Hirsch. This would be a catastrophe for anyone, especially since the two people who live there are both elderly and blind. The sister is 83 and her brother is 78 and bedridden.
"I said, 'Oh thank God it's so nice and cool,'" said homeowner Annie Bell. "Then the next thing I heard was I thought the whole car port was falling down."
Relatives were able to get them out of the house. Her granddaughter and great-granddaughter were also in the house. No one was injured.
The family does not have insurance. If they don't get some help, that tree isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
