Mom gets 10 years over baby's death at Fort Bliss

EL PASO, TX

A federal judge in El Paso on Wednesday sentenced Leesa Trujillo. She pleaded guilty in May to involuntary manslaughter and to injury to a child over the 2009 death. Authorities say the 7-month-old victim's right arm, both legs and several ribs had been broken.

Trujillo's boyfriend, Thelton Andres Riley Jr., in May pleaded guilty to murder. The ex-soldier will be sentenced later and and could get life in prison.

Investigators say Riley and Trujillo abused the baby while living on the Laguna Indian Reservation in New Mexico, then sought help at Fort Bliss. The FBI helped investigate the death at the post.

Further details on the child haven't been released.
