Sen. Cornyn to talk business at border

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn will host roundtable talks with local leaders, law enforcement and trade representatives at the U.S.-Mexico border Tuesday.

The Texas Republican will discuss ways to increase economic opportunities through improved efficiency and security at the border's ports of entry. Local officials have been critical of those who characterize the border as a lawless region plagued by violence spilling over from Mexico. They say such talk is bad for business.

After the meeting at the Hidalgo International Bridge, Cornyn will discuss proposed legislation that he says would reduce delays, increase staffing and enhance security at the ports of entry.
