The fire happened around 1:15am Sunday at a large home on Dockal near Wayside.
Firefighters arrived and found heavy flames coming from the front of the house.
The fire was intense and the roof was caving, so they went into defensive mode and fought the blaze from the outside.
Officials said the people who live in the house were away on a weekend fishing trip when the fire broke out. The cause remains under investigation.
