The sting happened Friday night in southeast Conroe. Members of the Conroe Police Department Narcotics Unit, assisted by officers from various units within the department, conducted a 12-hour operation aimed at curbing prostitution in neighborhoods in that area of town.
Undercover female officers posed as prostitutes and were positioned at locations where complaints of prostitution had originated from residents.
Police said the undercover officers waited to be approached by suspects.
This operation resulted in the arrests of six suspects who were charged with solicitation of prostitution.
Arrested and charged were 38-year-old Venancio Matzar Velasquez, 54-year-old Mark Arnold Fontaine, 44-year-old James Earl Davis, 23-year-old Melvin Gonzalez-Rosales, 42-year-old Nohel Adonay Ortega and 26-year-old Jose Bonilla-Zetino. Police said Bonilla-Zetino was also charged with promotion of prostitution, in addition to the solicitation charge.
