Virgilo Kison, 73, walked out of one of the exit doors of the Pine Shadow Retreat Nursing Home on Pine Shadows Ln. in Porter around 6:45pm Sunday. No one noticed him leave and he has not been seen since, officials said.
Deputies used a tracking dog to search the area around the nursing home. The search was unsuccessful, but the dog did lead deputies toward Loop 494 away from the nursing home.
Kison has been a resident at Pine Shadow Retreat since March. He has a brother and sister in the Houston area.
Officials said he did not have a vehicle or cell phone. They also said he does not have a history of leaving the facility without assistance.
Kison is a Pacific Islander and will be 74 years old in November. He suffers from schizophrenia, dementia, Parkinson's disease and diabetes.
Kison was last seen wearing a white, short-sleeve button-up shirt with a gray design on it, brown slacks and black shoes.
Anyone who believes they may have seen Kison is urged to immediately call their local law enforcement authorities or MCSO at 936-760-5800.
