The lane runs from Skinner Rd. to the HOV entrance at Eldridge Parkway.
This joint effort between the Texas Department of Transportation and METRO will bring relief to eastbound U.S. 290 commuters by providing improved access for multi-passenger vehicles entering the barrier-separated HOV lane.
The diamond lane will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be open to motorists carrying two or more passengers. Officials said the lane will facilitate the flow of traffic to the U.S. 290 HOV lane during the peak travel period.
