Third Ward residents on Tuesday night packed a meeting with Houston police and City Council Members Wanda Adams and C.O. Bradford. It was HPD's monthly positive interaction program to discuss crime data, and talk to residents about crime prevention.

Former police chief Bradford said he wanted to see crime data provided by HPD to increase community crime prevention.

"There are some neighborhoods that are still suffering terribly from crime and we need citizens to get involved in those particular neighborhoods so geography specific information would be very helpful," Bradford said.

Bradford also called for more volunteers for community policing. Overall, crime is down in the Third Ward, but officers have also seen an increase in rape and shoplifting.
