Man with gun accused of breaking into ex's residence

HOUSTON

Joe Michael Neal, 35, is charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit aggravated assault. According to court documents, Neal's ex-girlfriend says he broke into her north Harris County residence at around 3:30am on August 15 and woke up her and her current boyfriend in her bedroom. She says Neal had a firearm and pointed it at her.

Court documents show the woman said Neal dragged her out of bed, pointed the gun at her and told her he would kill her before he would let her be happy. She says her current boyfriend started to get up to intervene, but the woman says Neal pointed the gun and him and told him not to move or he would shoot him.

The woman says she was able to call 911 at that time and Neal fled the residence, court documents state.

No bond has been set in this case.
