Alligator hit by vehicle, found dead on highway

A 10-foot alligator was found dead on the highway in Pearland this weekend after being struck by a vehicle.

Pearland police got a call around 4:45am Sunday about several people walking down Texas 288 near Brazoria County Road 101.

Police spoke to the family and learned that their vehicle was disabled after hitting an alligator in the outside lane of Texas 288.

Officers found the gator on the side of the road. It was dead.

Police called Animal Control to remove the gator from the road.

No humans were injured in the collision.
