HPD investigating violent home invasion, shooting

HOUSTON

It happened around 11:40pm Saturday at a home in the 14400 block of Waterloo near Dalmatian.

According to Houston Police Department investigators, he was returning to his home with a cousin when the shooting happened.

They pulled into the driveway and walked toward the front door. As they opened the door, two black men jumped from the side of the house, forcing the victims inside.

The suspects held up the men, asking them to empty their pockets.

Police said the homeowner was shot twice -- once in the leg, once in the abdomen.

His cousin tried to get away from the gunmen, but officials said he didn't make it far.

"One male tried to run from the location, but he was caught close by and brought back to the location," HPD Sgt. K.E. Dubose said.

The two suspects ran away on foot. It was unclear what was stolen.

The homeowner was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remained in serious condition Sunday night.

Anyone with information on these suspects or their whereabouts is asked to call police.
