Arson investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at an empty home in southwest Houston.

Firefighters were called out to the home on Barbee near Dowling around 3:15am Sunday.

When they arrived, flames were shooting from the back of the house.

A short time later they put out the fire, but the home sustained extensive damage.

Authorities said the fire started in an annex building in the back of the house and spread to the main attic.

No one lives in the home and it is up for sale.
