People in the Third Ward are calling for an end to violence in their community. Neighbors joined police for a town hall meeting on Monday night.

Police say there have been seven unsolved murders in the area this year. The mother of murder victim Rashad Minix said she'd keep her son's memory alive by fighting for justice.

"Life is important. It's not about killing one another. Too many people a long time ago sacrificed their lives so that we can have what we have now, so that we can do what we're doing now. Let's love one another. This is all about love.

Activist Quanell X called on the public to help police solve the crimes. He also asked neighbors to form a community patrol to increase safety.
