According to officials, deputies were trying to arrest 33-year-old Margarito Atunez Brito for outstanding warrants.
Investigators said Brito drove his car toward the deputies and hit one of them.
Officers fired several rounds, killing Brito.
He was wanted for aggravated assault, theft, marijuana possession and felony escape.
