Sgt. Tommy Ward says eight people were on a boat Wednesday night when 60-year-old Fredrico Gonzales of Converse jumped into the water to cool off.
Authorities believe Gonzales began to struggle, then 36-year-old Arnulfo David Gutierrez of Toluca, Mexico, jumped in to try to save the older man.
Neither man wore a life vest. The body of the younger man was recovered shortly after the accident.
