Local sergeant killed in Afghanistan to be laid to rest

The Department of Defense says 27-year-old Sergeant Jacob Molina and another soldier from the Army's 25th Infantry Division were killed by an improvised explosive device on Tuesday in Kunar province.

Visitation and funeral services are set for a Houston-area Army sergeant who was killed in Afghanistan. Sergeant Jacob Molina was killed in the line of duty on July 19. His body is scheduled to arrive at 1:30pm Friday at Ellington Air Force Base.

A public visitation will be held Saturday at Compean Funeral Home and Sunday at the Catholic Charismatic Center in southeast Houston. His funeral will be Monday at 10am.

Molina will be buried with full military honors at the Houston National Cemetery.
