Woman killed by hit-and-run driver

HOUSTON It happened at around 9:30pm on Homestead at West Knoll in northeast Houston. Witnesses say the vehicle that struck the woman fled the scene.

Police say the woman is known to live nearby and witnesses say she was mentally challenged. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Heather Eversole.

Authorities described the hit-and-run vehicle as a blue Dodge Magnum with chrome wheels.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
