Woman abducted, robbed and raped in SW Houston

HOUSTON

This is the kind of warning letter from apartment management that sends chills down Cecilia Blanco's spine.

"'We recommend that you are especially cautious,'" said Blanco, reading the letter.

Especially when this type of heinous crime hits close to home.

"'A reported rape and abduction of one of our residents,'" Blanco reads.

Houston police say a 27-year-old woman in Madison Park of Westchase, Blanco's southwest Houston apartment complex, was kidnapped Thursday morning then forced into her car. Police say the suspect made her drive to an ATM and withdraw money.

Investigators say the man then drove her to a second location, sexually assaulted her, and drove her to a field near the Beltway and South Post Oak where police say he shot her in the shoulder then left her about 20 miles from her apartment.

"I mean I'm just shocked. I'm speechless. I don't know what to say," said one resident.

"Kidnapped and shot; I mean I'm appalled. Because I've lived over here a couple of years and I've never had any problems," said another resident.

And with the suspect still on the loose, residents are constantly looking over their shoulders. Blanco says she plans to keep her family safe whatever means necessary.

"I protect myself. I have a knife in my purse all the time and then I have pepper spray," Blanco said.

The victim was taken to the hospital and police say she suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect took off in the victim's car, a light blue 2006 Ford Mustang that has not been recovered.

The suspect is described as a black male, late 20's to early 30's, 5 foot 8, with a muscular build and a long braided ponytail.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
