Teen accused in shooting death of her mother

HOUSTON

Tambreshia Laqua Jackson, 18, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. Jackson is accused in the death of her mother, Lakisha Jackson Allen, 32.

Police say at around 1:15am on April 30, 2009, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 7700 Creekbend Drive and found Allen lying on the floor, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses initially stated that Allen was arguing with at least one male when a loud noise was heard and an unknown male suspect ran out the door.

Further investigation revealed that Allen's daughter, Jackson, who was 16 at the time, was responsible for the shooting. Homicide investigators located Jackson, who was also eight months pregnant at the time, in Corsicana, Texas.

Police say it was agreed by Houston police, the Harris County District Attorney's Office and Jackson that she would turn herself in to police after the baby was delivered. On May 17, 2011, Jackson turned herself in and was transported to the Harris County Jail.

On Monday, Jackson was certified to stand trial as an adult and was charged with murder.

Police say there are no other suspects in this case.
