The father of two had returned to the apartments and was walking with grocery bags in his hands. Deputies say as he walked towards his apartment, one of the suspects jumped out and held the man up at gunpoint, demanded cash and the man's wallet. The suspect then shot him in the chest stomach and arm, according to authorities.
"It appears that a struggle took place and there were some items on the ground," said Sgt. Robert Schields with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "He was shot three times and he was able to make it back to his apartment, call 9-1-1 and get medical attention."
Deputies say the suspect and a possible look-out took off. Witnesses described the two suspects while deputies were on the scene and two males fitting the description showed up and were later arrested. They are now being called persons of interest.
The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
