An officer was on the feeder road going to the U-Turn to go back inbound toward a priority call.
Officials said he was going too fast and did not realize there was sand on the road from utility construction.
The officer hit the sand and lost control of the cruiser, skidding into a guard rail.
Police said the guard rail sustained major damage and will have to be repaired, but the officer was not injured.
