A 30-year-old victim had gone to her friend's apartment Monday to take her and their children to a Boys & Girls Club.
As the women and four children were leaving they saw a man with a gun getting out of a vehicle parked down the street.
Police said they ran back inside but bullets struck the women. The children were unharmed.
Police said the man returned to his vehicle where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His ex-girlfriend was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Her friend died at the scene.
