Mother charged after girl found home alone

HOUSTON Millena Hebert, 29, is charged with abandoning a child. According to court documents, on May 23, Hebert left her daughter alone in their home without sufficient access to food. The girl was found home alone during a welfare check by a Texas Department of Family and Protective Services employee.

The welfare worker described the home as in a state of disarray, with fresh and dried feces in the bathrooms in an unsanitary situation.

The child reportedly told the worker that her mother had packed a bag, including her toothbrush and a computer and left the home telling the girl, "I want to get away from you." She added that her mother said she would return the next day.

The felony charge carries a $2,000 bond in this case.
