Ofc. Christian Crum, 31, was on his personal motorcycle when the collision happened.
DPS officials said Crum was westbound on Ave. E when the driver of a Mitsubishi sedan left the stop sign at the intersection and drove into the path of his motorcycle.
Crum was thrown from the motorcycle when it struck the car.
Officials said Crum was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died.
The other driver was not injured.
Crum served with Stafford Police Department for four years.
