The suspect confronted the clerk, 20-year-old Salvador Maya, and shot him to death. The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot. He's described as a black male, 5'10" to 6' tall, with a stocky build.
None of the store's customers were harmed, even though many of them witnessed the murder.
Maya's devastated family members are asking for anyone who has any information about his killer to come forward. They say Maya was a hard-working young man with a bright future.
"We've seen tragedies at convenience stores previously within the Harris County community," said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia. "This case focuses on those particular challenges. The 20-year-old victim, Salvador Maya, was working at a convenience store when he was murderously gunned down by the suspect in this particular case."
Anyone with information about the suspect's identity should call the HCSO Homicide Unit at 713-967-5810.
