Missing Houston-area couple found safe in Florida

HOUSTON

Salomon Gasca, 78, and Lorenza Gasca, 73, were last seen by family members near the 21000 block of Oak Ridge Park in northwest Harris County. They were at their son's house, headed over to their daughter's house in Jersey Village but they never arrived.

The family originally thought the couple became sidetracked, but after they didn't contact any family members for 33 hours, they assumed the worst. Salomon suffers from Alzheimer's although his wife doesn't and usually keeps him in check. But what added to the family's concern is that the couple did have a few hundred dollars cash on them.

The couple was eventually found safe Monday night at a weigh station in Pensacola, Florida, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The couple told the Florida Highway Patrol they got lost and drove as far as they could on Sunday, spent the night at a gas station parking lot then continued driving east until arriving at the weigh station where they were found.

The Gascas spent the night at a hotel in Florida Monday night as relatives were on their way to pick them up.
