Motive unknown in League City murder

LEAGUE CITY, TX What is normally a quiet neighborhood in League City was rattled around 2am Sunday by several gunshots, and then a murder investigation.

"The male subject was shot several times in the chest," said Sgt. David Hausam with the League City Police Department.

The victim -- whose identity has not been released -- was found dead in the middle of Acacia St. near Empress St., right in front of his home.

His body was lying behind his own pickup truck, which had been left parked in the road with the lights on and the keys in the ignition.

"His mother did come out and see that he was out in the street, so it's a challenging scene for the family," Hausam said.

Police say sometime before the shooting, the victim and some friends and family members had a get-together at the man's house.

According to investigators, one of the victim's friends is now a person of interest.

The man's brother-in-law would not speak on camera, but told Eyewitness News it has been rough for the family. He said they are struggling to cope with the loss of their loved one and with the fact that it happened right in front of the family's home.

No arrests have been made.
