Big reward offered for one of Texas' most wanted

AUSTIN, TX Texas Crime Stoppers, along with Fort Stockton Crime Stoppers are offering a combined reward of $8,500 for information leading to the arrest of Alfonso Quiroz, 33, of Fort Stockton.

Quiroz is wanted for murder in connection with a May 17, 2007, killing south of Fort Stockton, in which a man was found shot to death on the side of a road. Quiroz was arrested two days later and charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Quiroz was released after posting $600,000 bond, but failed to appear on his scheduled court date. He's been on the run ever since.

Quiroz has a scar on his forehead and several tattoos, including one on his inside left forearm that says "LIFE/DEATH" and a scroll on his outside upper left arm that says "ONLY GOD WILL JUDGE ME."

Texas Crime Stoppers offers rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives. Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in three different ways:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Text the letters DPS, followed by your tip, to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
  • Submit a tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture to submit a web tip.
