SAN ANGELO, TX
San Angelo Police Chief Tim Vasquez says an officer pulled up
behind a "suspicious vehicle" on a residential street in the
northern part of the West Texas city and turned on his emergency
lights. The suspect car sped away and a 30-second chase began that
ended with the car in a backyard and the man was missing.
Vasquez says the officer found 19-year-old Martin Pena
hiding in a parked vehicle and ordered him to step out,
but Pena had a gun in his hand and the officer shot him.
The chief said the officer, whom he's not identifying, is been
assigned to desk duty pending investigation.
