Member of Houston Grand Opera wanted on sex charge
HOUSTON
Gerald Christopher Guidry, 22, was charged with sexual assault of a child after the teen's mother notified authorities of explicit text messages on the girl's cell phone, according to a Harris County probable cause document. One of the text messages from Guidry allegedly admitted he had sex with the teen and that he aware she was underage and still in high school.
When the victim's mother confronted her, the girl allegedly admitted that she and Guidry engaged in 'consensual' sex acts while they were in a production together at the Houston Grand Opera. The incidents, the girl claimed, happened on multiple occasions, including the rehearsal room and basement at the Opera's downtown Houston building.
Police tried to contact Guidry but were unsuccessful. He told authorities that he'd stop by their office for interrogation on April 4 but never showed up.
The Houston Grand Opera says Guidry was a part-time employee and was a "super numberary," which means he didn't have a singing and acting role within the opera. The Grand Opera says it has suspended him without pay pending further investigation.
