Tornadoes have been confirmed near several West Texas towns but nobody was hurt in the storms that also pounded Abilene with hail the size of softballs. National Weather Service forecaster Joel Dunn said Monday that 60 to 80 vehicles outside the Mall of Abilene had their windshields broken Sunday afternoon by the large hail.

A mall spokesman didn't immediately return a call Monday from The Associated Press.

Dunn says a tornado was confirmed Sunday afternoon in Taylor County, near Baird. Another tornado was reported about 3 miles north of Potosi. Dunn says fire department personnel reported a third tornado north of Moran, in Shackelford County. No damage was immediately reported.

Oncor reported nearly 8,000 storm-related electric outages Monday, mainly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
