Troopers believe the remains are those of 21-year-old George Delany of Frederick, Md. The junior at Rochester Institute of Technology was reported missing after he left his suburban Rochester apartment March 12 and never returned.
His vehicle was found March 13 in the neighboring town of Wayland.
An autopsy is being conducted to positively identify the remains.
Police are holding a news conference at 11 a.m. Monday to discuss the case.
