Small plane crashes into Maine house; 1 dead

BIDDEFORD, ME FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac says the person killed was inside the plane, but there are no further details. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the victim is believed to be the pilot.

The victim's name hasn't been released.

Maine Assistant Fire Marshal Joe Thomas says the twin-engine Cessna was headed to Biddeford Municipal Airport when it crashed into a house nearby after 6 p.m. Sunday.

McCausland says officials received initial reports that one person inside the house suffered minor injuries, but they've since confirmed that no one was home at the time of the crash.

There's no immediate word on what caused the crash.
