According to METRO officials, it started with a disturbance on a METRO bus near West Gray. The bus driver believed a man was threatening another passenger with a gun. That suspect was apparently able to get off and board another bus.
A METRO spokesperson says the suspect got off the second bus at the North Freeway and the North Loop. That's when he was confronted by METRO police. METRO says the suspect took off and ran right into the southbound lanes of traffic where he was struck by at least two vehicles and killed.
While police were still investigating that accident, there was another deadly crash. Police say a 19-year-old woman with three passengers inside her car slammed into the back of a stopped 18-wheeler on the freeway. That woman was killed. Two passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The third passenger has minor injuries.
Police are still investigating the incident.
