Police investigating fatal shooting in SE Houston

HOUSTON

The incident happened in the 5600 block of Selinsky near Cedarburg about 3:30pm on April 1. Police say the shooter and his friend were at an apartment complex when they were approached by two unknown male suspects. Both suspects produced pistols and demanded money and cell phones. Fearing for his and his friend's life, the male shooter, who has a concealed handgun license, pulled a pistol and shot one of the suspects.

The deceased male, age unknown, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The second suspect fled the scene while shooting his weapon at the vehicle. He remains at large and it is unknown at this time if he was injued during the incident.

The male shooter, 23, was not injured in this incident.

Both the shooter and his friend were taken into custody at a nearby gas station, questioned and released at the scene.

The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
