Report: Houston police, firefighter pensions to be cut

HOUSTON According to the Houston Chronicle, Mayor Annise Parker asked HFD's pension board for permission to cut $14 million from the city's retirement contributions next year. The board was also told the city would be laying off up to 300 firefighters and closing some stations.

Firefighters rejected a request for a five million dollar reduction last year.
