Suspect sought in violent attack on 68-year-old

HOUSTON At about 2:30am on March 15, San Jacinto County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in Campbell Acres. A 68-year-old man told deputies that a man he knew, later identified as Joseph Luke Chandler, had knocked on his door and asked for help with his car battery. The victim proceeded to help him, but as they were working, the victim turned away. At that time he was attacked and hit multiple times with a piece of iron pipe. Deputies say the victim was unconscious on the ground while the suspect robbed him of his wallet and fled the area.

The victim was transported to Herman Memorial Hospital where he was treated for multiple head wounds, a lacerated ear and bleeding in the brain.

A warrant for aggravated robbery has been issued for the suspect, Joseph Luke Chandler, a 27-year-old white male. Officials say Chandler is known to travel within San Jacinto, Polk and Liberty counties. He is wanted in Liberty County for a probation violation.
