Traffic is backed up due to the freeway shutdown at Freeport

A traffic accident caused major rush hour delays on Houston's east side after crews were forced to close a portion of I-10 East. All I-10 East Freeway eastbound lanes were closed at Freeport Boulevard after a jack-knifed big rig and resulting fuel spill around 2:30pm. Officials are advising drivers to take an alternate route. The lanes were reopened around 5:15pm, but travelers in the area may still experience some delays on I-10.

Travelers were urged to use either Highway 225 (LaPorte Freeway) or Wallisville Road as alternate routes.
