HPD: Shots fired at officers making traffic stop

Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect or suspects who fired shots in the direction of two Houston police officers overnight.

The incident happened in the 4000 block of the North Freeway near Crosstimbers about 1:50am Tuesday. Police say two officers were conducting a traffic stop on the I-45 feeder road when they noticed two sedans, one white and the other black, drive by at a low speed on the main lanes on the freeway. At that time, a person or persons from inside one or both vehicles fired about six or seven shots in the officers' general direction.

The officers pursued the vehicles, but were unable to catch up to them. The officers were not injured.
