Six horses were killed and two others injured in a stable fire in northwest Harris County Sunday morning. At around 7am, the Cy Creek Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the stable in the 12700 block of Jarvis near Lake Crest. When they arrived, they found flames shooting from the structure.

Crews were able to rescue a donkey and two horses before the flames became too intense. Investigators say it took more than an hour to put out the flames. Once they did, they discovered the deceased and injured horses.

Harris County Arson is investigating. So far, the cause is unknown.
