A fight over a woman turned deadly when a man was shot in southeast Houston. Investigators say the suspect fled at first, but later turned himself into authorities.

Investigators say a fight started at a house on Teal near Mississippi Saturday evening. That's when a gun was drawn.

At first there was a report that it could have been a drive-by shooting. Instead police are operating on information that this was a crime of jealousy.

At 5pm this evening in a southeast Houston neighborhood near the Gulf Freeway and South Loop, there was a shooting that was no accident police say, but murder. Three people were inside the home when one of them was killed.

"We have one dead male that was allegedly shot by his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend," said Matthew Brady of HPD Homicide.

Police aren't saying if the suspect was invited into the home or barged in before the shooting.

Police say there were no children inside the house. The name of the shooting victim has not yet been released.

The suspect fled the scene, but later surrendered to authorities. They say no charges have been filed yet against the suspect.
