We have an update in the case of a driver who police say led them on a chase early Sunday morning and was apparently ejected when the suspect's vehicle plunged into a creek. The vehicle's driver had been missing, but police Wednesday say they have recovered a body believed to be that of the driver.

It started when Baytown police officers tried to pull a vehicle over that was reported stolen. The driver of the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and, according to police, lost control on Market Street in front of Lee High School and drove into Goose Creek.

Police recovered the vehicle, however the driver was not inside. Police divers helped with the vehicle recovery, but because of the cold temperatures and heavy rain, they couldn't perform long-term rescue operations.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department assisted with the search of the creek, and the Baytown Fire Department searched along the banks.

The body of the deceased has been released to the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy to determine cause of death and make a positive identification.

Information on the deceased is being withheld pending identification and notification of family.
