The program includes $10 million worth of free vaccines provided by Walgreens and having faith-based organizations educate their congregations about the importance of getting a flu shot.
The lessons learned from this program will help the Department of Health perfect its future flu season plans.
The Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) has begun giving out the free flu shot vouchers to uninsured people. Each voucher covers the cost of a flu shot and its administration at any area Walgreens pharmacy. There are no costs or fees to voucher recipients.
