HPD officer center of DEA, Harris County DA's probe

HOUSTON

The 40-year-old senior police officer has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of an investigation being led by the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Harris County District Attorney's office, HPD Spokesman John Cannon said.

The officer hasn't been formally charged in the case, but there are allegations he was selling pain medications to people who weren't prescribed to them.

The officer has been with the department since 1997.
