Houston is now part of a national experiment to get more people vaccinated against the flu.

It is one of eight cities in which the federal government is trying out a public-private partnership to increase the vaccination rate.

It includes $10 million worth of free vaccines provided by Walgreens and having faith-based organizations educate their congregations about the importance of getting a flu shot.

The lessons learned from this program will help the department of health perfect its future flu season plans.
