The bodies of a pilot and two passengers from Texas have been recovered from the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in the water near Destin in the Florida Panhandle. The National Transportation Safety Board says the Piper PA-46 Malibu went down in Choctawhatchee Bay Tuesday night while trying to land at the Destin airport.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman says the three crash victims were en route from Texas and a family member was waiting for them at the airport. Officials have not released the victims' names.

Investigators have not said what caused the crash.
