Fire breaks out at Lyondell Basell plant in SE Houston

HOUSTON The blaze started around 12:45pm at the plant on Lawndale. A LyondellBassell spokesperson said a small fire broke out in a piece of pipe during a restart process at the Lyondell Basell plant. Apparently diesel had leaked out of a pipe, which caused the smoke to be very dark.

There were no injuries or environmental impact. Pasadena officials said the fire was contained in the plant. The fire was contained in about 15-20 minutes.
