One man is dead after he slammed into a concrete wall at Crane Street and the Eastex Freeway around 7pm Sunday. He was driving with another man when he ran a stop sign and hit a concrete wall. Police say he may have been texting and did not notice the street ends at the Eastex Freeway feeder road.

The driver, Jonathan Ray Broussard, 38, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he later died. His passenger, a 39 year-old male, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with fractures to his left leg and is expected to survive.

No other vehicles were involved in this accident. Police say the investigation is continuing.
