Pregnant woman in critical condition after crash

HOUSTON According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Tram Tran's husband was driving a Nissan northbound in the 14500 block of I-45 on Saturday with Tran in the passenger seat. Her husband began to choke on a glass of water he was drinking. He passed out as a result of choking and struck the concrete retaining wall. After striking the wall, the Nissan became disabled in the middle of the freeway.

Deputies say Tran called 911 to report the incident when the Nissan was struck from behind by a Toyota Camry.

Tran, who is pregnant, was transported as a result of the second collision to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

This collision remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
